Random Street Portraits

Street photography in simple word is candid photography clicked on streets. Every photographer or common man tries to click random pictures on streets at least once in their lifetime.

Street photography is an interesting and wide range genre in photography. Few photographers find amazing & interesting stories in their pictures where some click random clicks while walking on streets. But it becomes more difficult when you try to capture human elements in your pictures. As sometimes you take consent of your subject, otherwise, you click pictures from a safe distance invading their personal space and privacy which is uncomfortable for both subject and photographers.

I found out myself in such an awkward and uncomfortable moment several times when you try to click someone, and they stare you back with angry & awkward look. I delete those pictures just to avoid any confrontation.

You have to be very quick while clicking such random moments as they are not repeatable, and you don’t want to draw the attention of your subject by clicking pictures of them again and again. It’s very difficult to focus your subject in such hurry and many times you end up capturing out of focus and poor-quality pictures as you have very less margin of error.

A suggestion from one of my photographer friend was to approach your subject before clicking their pictures. Their consent gives us time to click a picture with less hustle and without getting worried. You can take your time to set your camera to click a perfect moment and better-quality pictures.

However, I avoid myself to click pictures where subjects are in an awkward and embarrassing situation. I always try not to invade their personal space and not to cause any harassment or embarrassment to the subject.
